🚢 Ocean Fishing Guide

How to board: Talk to Dryskthota at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:3.2 Y:12.8). The boat departs every 2 hours (Earth time) at :00 and :15 past each even hour. Buy bait from the Merchant & Mender next to the NPC, or onboard the Endeavor. Check the schedule to see which 3 stops the current voyage will make — the route determines which fish and baits you need.

Core mechanic: Catch the Spectral Fish for each zone to trigger a Spectral Current — the entire ship's catch pool changes to high-value rare fish for ~2 minutes. Maximum one Spectral Current per stop. If one doesn't fire, the chance increases at the next stop.

Three must-have baits: Krill · Ragworm · Plump Worm — buy 99 of each before boarding. Rare Intuition fish need specialist baits (listed per zone below).

Hookset Guide

  • ! (weak) — Precision Hookset → small fish
  • !! (medium) — either hookset works
  • !!! (strong) — Powerful Hookset → large/rare fish
  • Spectral fish always bite as !!! — always Powerful
  • During Spectral Current, everything bites faster
  • Use Double Hook on non-spectral periods to stack common fish

  • Catch the right combo of fish in a zone to activate
  • Intuition lets you catch rare 5★ Intuition fish
  • Each zone has a unique combo — listed in zone cards above
  • Intuition fish are worth very high points
  • Sothis, Coral Manta, Hafgufa — the big three

GP & Consumables

  • Hi-Cordial — restores 400 GP, 3 min cooldown
  • Watered Cordial — restores 300 GP, 2 min CD (faster cycling)
  • Peppered Popotoes — food buff for GP stat
  • Survival Manual II — EXP boost if levelling
  • Brilliant Fishing Rod BiS — GP stat is what matters most

General Strategy

  • Always use the Spectral bait until current fires
  • Once current fires, switch to best points bait for that zone/time
  • Shout the spectral bait in /shout so the whole ship cooperates
  • Don't swap bait mid-current unless you know the fish rotation
