Turn your Squares Award Tracker workbook into a map, in a couple of minutes.
Upload your WAB Squares Award Tracker (.xls or .xlsx) and this page reads its "Squares" sheet directly, drawing a map of every square coloured in wherever you've filled in a callsign against one of its band/mode columns.
In the "Squares" sheet of your tracker, add a callsign and date under whichever BM1–BM5 column matches how you worked each square.

Every WAB square is already listed as its own row, with a Callsign and Date column pair for each of five band/mode slots (BM1–BM5) — you can rename those five headings to whatever you actually track, like "40m LSB" or "20 FT8".

If a callsign ever ends up typed into a Date cell (or a date into a Callsign cell) — easy to do with a stray paste or a one-column slip — the map can tell the two apart and will skip just that one slot rather than showing something wrong, and tell you exactly which square and slot needs a look.
A square that sits on a country border (like SJ18, on the England/Wales border) is simply listed twice, once for each country — fill in whichever row matches where you actually worked it. There's no extra step to resolve this on the map; each row's own data is used directly.
An earlier version of the tracker covered just one award class per workbook — e.g. "UK VHF & Europe HF" — with a single Callsign/Date column instead of BM1–BM5. This is still fully supported: use the Choose Legacy Single Band Tracker button, or just drop the file in either way — the page checks the actual layout of the file rather than trusting which button was clicked, so a legacy file dropped on the multiband button (or vice versa) still works.
Everything else — the map, the colours, the popups, the Stats dashboard — works identically regardless of which format was uploaded.
Because you can freely relabel BM1–BM5 to anything, the map does its best to split what you've
written into a Band and a Mode automatically — "40m LSB" becomes Band 40m and Mode
LSB, for example. This form always appears so you can check that split before the map
renders, but it's quick: every field starts pre-filled from your tracker, only the slots you've actually
used are shown, and leaving a field blank is completely fine if you'd rather not show a badge for it.
On a legacy single-band file, this naturally shrinks to one field instead of up to five, pre-filled from
that workbook's own award-class name.
The Year dropdown in the toolbar shows only squares worked in a specific year, automatically listing every year your tracker's dates actually cover. Each square's popup still shows every band/mode entry for it regardless of the year filter — the filter only changes which squares are shaded.
A toggle above the map switches to a full dashboard of your progress — a single fixed-size page, not a long scroll, so everything is visible at once without hunting through tabs. It's built from the same data as the map, plus a few extra sheets:
Below that: a Progress over time chart with a row of record cards (first square, most recent, busiest day, busiest year, longest gap between activity, current and longest streaks — measured in months, since that suits occasional activations better than a day-by-day streak would), then UK Countries, Large Squares, and Islands panels, each with its own progress bar.
Award Level reads the requirement table hidden in your tracker's own Summary sheet (Basic through Diamond, scored against the "UK HF" category) and shows your current tier plus exactly what's needed for the next one. A bar that already exceeds a requirement still shows its real numbers, not just a maxed-out bar — useful when you've cleared three of four categories for a tier and one is still the thing holding you back.
Finally, Book Holders and DXCC / WAB Countries show a simple count of logged contacts or countries from those sheets — both are free-form logs with no fixed master list, so there's no "X of Y" progress bar for them, just what you've actually entered.
The map looks for a sheet named exactly Squares with Square and Country as its first two columns — the same layout as the official WAB Squares Award Tracker workbook. If you've renamed that tab or are using a different spreadsheet entirely, it won't be recognised.
Every band/mode slot in the file is empty — a blank, unfilled tracker will always show this. Add at least one callsign under a BM1–BM5 column and re-upload.
This means a callsign and a date ended up in the wrong cells for that slot — usually a callsign typed into what should be the Date column, or vice versa. The banner names the exact square and slot number so you can find and fix it in your tracker; everything else on the map is unaffected.
Unlike the ADIF/CSV version of this map, every square shown here comes directly from your uploaded tracker — there's no separate master list to fall back on without a file, so an upload is always the starting point.
A tier only counts as reached once every category it gates is met together — Bronze, for instance, needs Squares, Islands, UK Countries, and Book Holders all at once. Plenty of squares with very few Book Holders logged will still show as short of Bronze; the bar for whichever category is holding you back will be the short one.
You don't need to know — either upload button (or drag-and-drop) reads the file's actual layout and works either way. If neither format matches, you'll get a clear message saying so rather than a wrong result.
